As announced today on The Hollywood Reporter and via a tweet from the official The Adventure Zone twitter account, The Adventure Zone‘s “Balance” campaign will be adapted as an animated webseries for NBC’s upcoming platform, Peacock.
Update 1/16/20: The series is in development and has yet to be picked up by Peacock.
As per The Hollywood Reporter:
Based on the McElroy Family’s wildly popular Dungeons & Dragons podcast and No. 1 New York Times best-selling graphic novel series, The Adventure Zone is a side-splitting and heart-filled fantasy animated comedy series that follows an unlikely, poorly equipped trio and their beleaguered Dungeon Master as they reluctantly embark on a quest to save their world.
The webseries adaptation will be written and produced by Adam Higgs, writer of TV series such as Orphan Black and Scorpion. The webseries will be executive produced by Clint, Griffin, Travis, and Justin McElroy.
More details will be reported on as they are announced. No further information, including release dates or casting information, has been released.
The Adventure Zone‘s “Balance” campaign is the first story on the podcast’s feed, starting with “Ep. 1: Here There Be Gerblins – Chapter One” from December 3rd, 2014, and ending with “Ep. 69. Story and Song – Finale, Part Three” from August 17th, 2017. The campaign can be listened to in full on any major podcatcher.
The first two adventures from the campaign can also be experienced via the podcast’s graphic novel adaptation. The third adventure from the campaign, “Petals to the Metal,” will be released on July 14th, 2020.
